BAY TREASURE CHEST EXPANDS ITS SUPPORT FOR LOCAL COMMUNITY GROUPS
The Bay Treasure Chest Association (BTCA) is delighted to be able to announce that, because of the tremendous support the Bay Treasure Chest fundraising lottery has received from the community, it can increase the number of local community groups supported directly with a share of the funds raised.
The two new groups to receive direct funding are the St. Margaret’s Bay Area Rails to Trails Association and a Community Centre Hub. Rails to Trailsis entrusted with the development, management and care of the approximately 32.5km multi-use trail that extends from the eastern-most point to the western-most point of the Bay catchment area.

The Community Centre Hub is a collaboration of three large Community Centres in the Treasure Chest catchment area including, the Estabrooks Community Hall, Hammonds Plains Community Centre and the Hubbards Barn Association. These community centres provide valuable meeting places and services to their local populations.

They join the following five existing groups receiving direct funding from the Bay Treasure Chest: The St. Margaret’s Bay Stewardship Association, Five Bridges Wilderness Heritage Trust, Seniors Association of St. Margaret’s Bay, Bay Rides and the Bay Youth Hub which includes, The GPI Atlantic Youth Project, St. Margaret’s Bay Skate Park, St. Margaret’s Bay Toy Library and the Unicorn Theatre .

Bay Treasure Chest also provides opportunities for obtaining funds to other, smaller community groups through its Honorarium program and funding for the Anne Martell Memorial Scholarship Fund for graduating students of Sir John A. MacDonald High School.
